Many people who are looking to move to Amityville or other small Long Island communities find themselves asking if it’s going to be challenging to commute to the city for work. Long Island has a reputation of being “cut off” from Manhattan, and people imagine that moving there means there’s no connection to the city.

Luckily, the truth is that there are several options for commuters looking for ways to conveniently get into the city. Whether you’re looking for a reliable way to get in for work each morning, or are looking for options in the event of a sudden need for a quick commute, There are always ways to get there.

1: Driving

Driving from Amityville to Manhattan is definitely a viable option for anyone who has access to parking in the city. The scenery and backdrop of beautiful long island as you change over from the retreat of the island towns into the hustle and bustle of the city makes for a great drive.

The drive will be about 45 minutes depending on the traffic, and there are several different routes you can take if you decide for a more scenic route, or if you need to avoid congestion.

The added benefit of driving is that it avoids the cost of train tickets or bus tickets.

The best route is usually to take the Southern State Parkway, and I-495 West. This route will go through Queens, and end up in Midtown Manhattan.
